The Norse God Týr is associated with law and heroic glory in Norse paganism. He characteristically has one hand as it was bitten off by the wolf Fenrir.
Týr is widely regarded as the head of the pantheon of Germanic and Norse paganism but he was over-taken by the popularity of Wodan (Odin) and Donar (Thor). As Odin and Týr share the same role as God of war. Týr was also known for his wisdom and courage and sacrificed his hand so the other Gods may bind the dangerous Fenrir.
In English we name our third day of the week Tuesday from Tiwaz-day. The day to worship Týr.
